Black and white cable organizer clips holding charging cables on a desk edge

Cable Clips for a Tidy Desk: Where to Put Them and How to Stick Them

Every desk has a charging cable that slides off the edge and disappears behind the furniture. Cable organizer clips give each cable a fixed spot, so the connector waits on top, ready to use.

Where they help most

  • Desk edge: phone charger, earphones and laptop charger.
  • Bedside table: one clip for the phone cable so it stays put at night.
  • Kitchen counter or by a socket: tablet or small appliance cables.
  • Desk leg: run the cable of a USB foot warmer or a lamp down the leg so a chair cannot roll over it.

How to stick them properly

  1. Clean the spot and let it dry. Dust is what makes adhesive fail.
  2. Press firmly for about 30 seconds.
  3. Wait a few hours before loading the clip with a cable, if you can.

Stick them on smooth, clean surfaces; adhesive grips poorly on rough, textured or fabric surfaces. The supplier says it does not leave marks, but surfaces vary, so try a hidden spot if you care about the finish.

How many?

Most desks need three to six clips, one per cable you actually unplug and use. They come in white or black, as single clips or in packs up to 20.

See the colours and pack sizes on the cable organizer page, or browse home organization.
